Yes, the FL had been the pink-haired girl in the past and it was she who taught him to wield a sword. When he met her in the future and saw her use her sword, he realized that she had the same technique and it reminded him of the little girl which is why he spoke to her over everyone else and why he treated her far better than even his subordinates. Which is probably why they bullied her and looked down upon her. They knew that he treated her differently although to her he treated her like she was nothing. He might not have figured out that she and the pink-haired
girl was one and the same… but I think he definitely saw her in the same light.
Now my own question is: Did that little snippet in the middle take place in the future timeline? He obviously felt differently towards her than anyone else.
