This just proves that villains are made not born. He’s a monster who cannot emphatize why people depend too much on relationship building in order to thrive in life (marriage, friendship, alliances etc) He cant grasp the concept of ‘love’ and the complicated emotions that come with it.
Would it be different if he met someone kind enough to extend a hand despite his monstrous appearance? Then again, I can’t blame the humans too, we are naturally afraid of things beyond our understanding and situations out of our control. And the fact that he killed was something to consider too.
Maybe the child’s reaction after seeing his true form would contribute on how his approach about his “conquest of understanding humans affection” — and might lead to his obsession? I still think he doesn’t mean harm in the beginning, it’s just— he’s confused and lost and misguided, that he thought what he was doing will lead him to an answer. If the child sees Mr. Goblin and react negatively despite his affection towards his so called father, what would be his thoughts? Im excited on how the authour would narrate his thoughts— what conclusions would run to his mind and how would he react. I’ll be waiting for the next chapters.
