I don’t know why everyone is panicking and writing Tarkan off. The translations are often wonky. Being sincere toward two women at the same time, I’ve seen the translators use this as like ‘taking responsibility’ or ‘caring about a lot’ rather than just love or lust.
Basically, if she’s dead, he wants to take responsibility for burying her, maybe informing whatever family she has. And if she’s not, he wants to take responsibility for whatever it was she did for him, probably by giving her some kind of position in his palace. It doesn’t necessarily have to mean romantic love.
Sure, he did love her before, but then he fell for Aristine. Even if he still has feelings, he’s aware of how ridiculous it is to feel that way about someone he barely even knows, he’s just chasing the mystery at this point.
I think he needs to know what happened to her to close the chapter in the book of his life and he’s aware that it’ll keep him up at night, thinking she might still be alive and needing help and he’ll never know.
It feels more like ‘this person I used to love is still my responsibility and though I know it’s ridiculous, I at least have to know if she’s alive or dead’ kind of thing. I don’t think ‘being sincere’ is being used as a shorthand for ‘being in love with’ except in the loosest sense.
He’s basically saying it’s bad to take care of an unmarried woman he barely knows because of obvious reasons, but she obviously did something to help him or inspire him, so even if he has a wife now, he has to attend to that responsibility.
At least that’s my take. I could be wrong. But even still, it doesn’t say he intends to cheat. It just says he has feelings for two people. That’s not evil. He’s just confused and wants an answer as to how he really feels about her then. Now, if she really is a different person and not Aristine and he cheats or thinks about cheating, that would be different.
But for now, if that’s the case, he’s only wanting to know if she’s ALIVE. And if she isn’t, to bury her, for whatever she did for him and the love he used to feel.
Also, people always remember their first love. It doesn’t mean they’re cheating on literally every partner they ever have after that.
If he does think about cheating or say he’d throw over Aristine, absolutely trash and throw him away. But I think we need more context than half a conversation.
I completely agree with the person saying how the queen must have felt, half the reason she turned out so problematic is because her husband unnecessarily took a second wife. Also the ml is genuinely trash for this one, he went from being a green flag to a red flag completely. I could understand if he simply wanted to find her out of gratitude but imagine saying something like “she is imprinted on my mind” and “being sincere to two women”. Total trash🤡🤡🤡🤡🗑️🚮
To be fair the “old flame” was probably also like 10 years old at the time. Considering the circumstances, looking for signs of a girl’s dead body isn’t the same as stalking an adult crush’s Instagram.
