I hope FL gets some character development soon. Because she’s so thoughtless at the moment, despite having knowledge of the future to come. She yelled at her guard and called him an idiot for something that was her fault a few chapters ago. Shes thinking of ML as an animal now, and has constantly casually touched him as she liked since they first met. Shes trying to make big convoluted plans with these tea parties when the easiest way to make it clear shes not intersected in being the heir, is by saying, “I’m not interested in being the heir” to her parents.
Just came back from “I Hated it Even More” and I have some thoughts.
Arabella is kind and naive and doesn’t realize Anita’s situation. Same as our protagonist here before she gained memories of the future. Yet in those comments, there’s a lot of people hating on Arabella even when she tries to look out for Anita – while approving of Anita treating her coldly. Meanwhile, this FL clumsily tries to approach her brother (with ulterior motives) and suddenly intent > action/consequences. Also, he’s a monster for not wanting to be involved for someone who symbolizes so much hardship he’s faced in life.
Not trying to hate on anyone. Just pointing out the power of the PoV. The prince also has a rich inner world and motivations, but because we don’t see it, it’s easy to brush him off as needlessly cruel and mean-spirited.
Why, from his PoV, should he form a bond with FL? It won’t change his situation, and anything going wrong between them will have the king blame him. She probably brings up memories of him and his mother being cast aside. She’s also unused to being told “no” or being reproached.
If he was the protag – a prince cast aside by his father for the child of the man’s mistress – we would all be rooting for him to gain the throne.
