When she showed clear displeasure with his actions in the previous life, he was like “but i did it all for you” and didn’t consider how she felt. Not even once. And after reading the spoilers, he just seems really selfish.
Oh! Animosity right from the start! Does he think that his uncle wouldn’t be hostile and act ruthlessly towards her just because he said he’s gonna protect her!?

Realistically speaking, this would be his toughest battle ever, while it wouldn’t yield the best results since Rose is involved and she is terribly sensitive.

And while going through such gruesome fight he might not be able to keep her out of the harm’s way completely.
