Imcrying! She worked hard to get to where she is just to know that it was bec she was loved by him.

It’s a very difficult thing… Everything she worked for and achieved now put into question in her mind, now knowing a lot of it was not due to her hard work, but favoritism… Added to that the fact that she now was expected to give it all up to be the empress (a position she does not want), wife of the emperor (a man she does not love and now not even trust) and mother to the first prince (a child she didn’t want and still does not want), And there is nothing much she can do, the child is born and is his son… I can see her being miserable if things were to go this way…. The emperor himself knew she did not love him and did not want anything other than to be a knight, but still assumed she would willingly marry him just because she had the child, and it’s what is to be expected at the time… I feel sorry for him due to all the love he has for her, but this was a big wake up call and in the end, he just hurt her with his confession and unrequited feelings, as sad as it is…. Her happiness is not him nor the kid.

I respect Paulina’s descision even though she didn’t want the child she still gave birth to it

I feel so much for her. Even a lot of modern women in some (modern! Not even backward) countries are expected to resign or have unpaid leave to care for babies. No matter how much we love our work and career. And also I just love the disconnect between the emperor’s “normal” way of thinking (that is kind of patriarchal but we’re used to and feel like it’s pretty rational) and paul’s desperation of protecting what she has achieved so far (title, fief, career, position). Paul saw how emperor’s women ended up as just that…. Women, locked in the palace, treated as pretty things that also function as heir factory. As someone who has so much of her own, there are too many to lose when she’s expected to be a woman who knows her place.
