Well. I sort of understand how she feels. As a woman, some people usually sing the song of “being a woman gives her the privilege”, and I feel that sometimes it’s really insulting. Well, not to offend anyone here, it’s just my tiny opinion. We all know that she gets everything through her hard work, but obviously the FL doesn’t know this and it all connects at some point. Let’s try not to be too emotional and match on.

If ML just do whatever he wants. Proceeds the wedding and do what a married couple should do. Their child will be the next villain in the next novel 😂 Sir Paul didn’t even want a child to begin with. She already neglected him, she only think that her responsibility is to give the best thing to the child not because she loves the child. Just imagine you work hard to become a knight, you ignore all criticism about you. Then suddenly because you just got drunk and get pregnant you lose all your hard work. It’s frustrating, Also if they proceeds the wedding without proper talk and understanding with each other, there will a chance that sir Paul will blame the child for all the bad things that happen to her. @MangaLover313 imagine this, Imagine that u worked ur ass of for a place in a big company, even when people treated you like trash, insulted u, mocked u, but got there with ur own effort. And then the CEO comes and says “I love u” and he was the one who gave u the place u r right now. The feeling of being given a place not because of ur efforts but because of bias is the worst, even more for those that really worked their ass off. So, be more FUCKING EMPATHIC.

I really can’t blame Paul at all, her reasoning makes sense. In so many novels, mangas and manhwas that I’ve read, when situations like these arrive the FL just gets overdramatic with the ML and their romance gets pushed back by some so-called “betrayal”.
This story emphasises from the VERY BEGINNING how Paul’s very existence was scorned by her family while her gender was ridiculed and cursed at my her peers before and after joining the emperor’s side. SHE WAS EVEN ASSAULTED!!! If others attempted to “help” Paul, they would give her the worst options available, often regarding her status in a condescending way (Im referring to that time one her knight’s mother suggested that Paul’s future prospects for a husband were limited so she should just get married to a old guy 40 years older than her😡)
With every accomplishment she was considered as a witch and even the slightest mistake prompted fingers to be pointed at her for being a born failure. And yet, the very person who never once held those sentiments was the emperor. He was the first to acknowledge her as a tactician despite being on opposing sides, her honoured her bravery and determination and welcomed her as one of his close aids. She saved his life and he rewarded her for those deeds. Paul even shared moments with him where they could talk about each other lives.
But then the emperor says he’s loved her for so long and the dots connect. Her life getting conveniently better after the continent united wasn’t due to her accomplishments. Getting a noble title wasn’t due to her service as a knight. Earning her land back wasn’t an act of pure kindness from the emperor. Gaining a captain position in the knights division wasn’t due to her skills. Guarding the concubines wasn’t assigned to her because of responsible nature.
No.
It was all because the emperor favoured her.
And DAMN that’s like a bucket of cold water getting splash on your face! It leaves Paul confused and humiliated seeing how the one person who she thought saw her for her worth actually didn’t. His judgment was jaded under the pretext of “love” and that makes things so much worse cause there’s a bias based on her.😢

She is obsessed with the role of a knight. Too bad for her that a “Knight”, lives for his king not for his own ego or desires (in the historical context of this novel).
For her, the Emperor’s love is an insult….poor man.
This is the second time she behaves like a coward (the first when she hid the pregnancy)

I mean, I completely understand Paul’s feelings, and her concerns are 100% valid, because the emperor DID show her favoritism. But sometimes I just want her to find happiness. Ay, my heart.
