I don’t blame the king even tho I absolutely despise him. Put yourself in his shoes and you’ll understand. You’re small kingdom is asked to surrender by a large empire that is clearly capable of destroying your empire. Your decision will decide the life and death of your people. If you surrender, the many people in your kingdom will live, but your son and daughter will be sent to hell. If you don’t surrender, the people in your kingdom and your family will be slaughtered brutally.
@dearwhitelily – Isabel’s father was the King of a nation that was conquered by the empire. They lost a war. You can’t blame the King for that, because it seems like their island kingdom was pretty small and weak compared to the Empire that attacked them.
That Emperor is a pushover. Pushover will never get any respect. His decision led to his only son to death and her only daughter to a miserable existence. If the empire has a successful governance system, most nobles and/or politicians will moderate the Emperor’s foolishness or forcibly remove him and replace with a more reasonable Emperor.
Sorry for this long comment. I just hate how his decision led to the downfall of his own children and his empire.
