I think a subtle irony and self-parody would fit this story well; like here – when the hero who feels the need to always come to the rescue makes a mistake, because there’s no actual threat 😛
Too bad that the story is so awfully “jumpy”. We have seen so little of the brother since he woke up for example – he only had his short appearance at the party and now he’s just stashed away again and forgotten by the author? He will have to learn a lot now since he’s been in a coma for so many years…
