@Murdergnome thats why his plan is to force ariana to adopt his bastard child so that the child could be a successor. if ariana agreed to adopt the kid as her own, he will be free to manipulate reasons for such adoption (e.g. saying ariana is barren so he had to resort to having a mistress). also if the adoption happen, the dude will be in a much easier position to choose whether he wants to be with ariana (and eliminate the other girl) or if he wants to be with the other girl (discreetly eliminate ariana, wait for an appropriate grieving period, and marry the girl) OR he can even branch out and find someone else (but he has to get rid of 2 women for that).
I really don’t understand how him having a son with the maid is supposed to solidify his position as a count. Their claim of her infertility would be shut down immediatly if it went to court where doctors that’s not in their pocket could verify… I guess they probably plan to just kill her after, but considering what a beloved figure she is that would also mean the destruction of the family so what is their plan?
