The brother aint that bad, as far as we know he never pysicly abused her or hit her.
Also imagine loosing your little sister and then your dad picks a random girl up from the street to “replace” her. He was young to at that time so he didnt know how to handle it. Also he heard that girl say she rather have that sister to jot return or to be dead. You wouldent be nice to that person eather. But now he slowly reflecting on his actions and acctully listens to her.
Also remember the first time seeing him, he acctully shower worry and compassion when fl had to eat that rotten food

It’s not wrong to see where he came from, but that jewelry incident is where Penelope started acting bratty from, not before. It was only after that, that she began acting out, before that she was just a quiet stranger trying to find a home, but as displayed from that memory over and over again, it was that moment that she realized there was absolutely no one on her side in that mansion, and started acting out to get any kind of attention and as a defense mechanism. She wasn’t a brat before that, they made their own villainess. Penelope only ever acted out when someone targeted her, which was always. Siyeon woke up to Emily stabbing her with a needle. Reynold is pitiful for losing his sister, but he purposefully isolated Penelope and created the justification for all the servants to keep bullying her, while Derrick and the Duke let it happen, willfully on Derrick’s part, and neglectfully on the Duke’s.

No, I feel bad for him too. You see in his literal first appearance that he clearly didn’t know how badly she was actually being treated to start with. As far as he was aware, his father had brought in someone bratty to replace his little sister, and the original Penelope only acted worse and worse on top of him hearing her wish that his real sister would just die and never come back. To him, there was no reason for her to wish for something like that, so it just seemed like extra crultey.
Like obviously he’s a jerk, but its not hard to see things from his POV. If the story was being told from his perspective, the comments would probably be cursing Penelope and talking about how she should have spoke up sooner or something.

Am I the only one who feels bad for the brother? He had just lost his younger sister who he was supposed to protect as an older brother and he was prob closer to her than anyone, and his father picks up some random girl and everyone just forgets about the og sister or at least pretends that she never existed.
