Not to the point of outright lying, I was just being nice to a guy. He had asked me out one time and I had told him I wasn’t interested in him like that. He said he understood. We remained somewhat friends, talking every now and then when he would come by my desk and during the later part of the shift, he would sit with me during his lunch break since I was usually the only one on staff for the late shift [I eventually started going home during my lunch and finishing my shift at home]. I still treated him just like I did anyone else.
He still got it into his head that I had changed my mind about liking him. He never said anything about it. It started as him giving me $20 as a Christmas gift. And then later, when he had to go back to work, he gave me a hug from behind and then kissed my neck before leaving. I was too stunned to react at the time. I later messaged him in private, asking if I had given him the idea that I liked him and he said yes. When I asked how, he said it was because I had been nice to him and had told him things he seemed to think I didn’t tell anyone else. I did not.
I ended up having to tell him he was wrong about that and we no longer talked and he was eventually transferred.
I know she lied to him to keep him loyal and because he was her easiest way to get to 100% [at least that’s what she thought] but still

Who dies 😶 And we did see everyone hating her and if she doesn’t try to win them over and “finish” the game, she believes she would die (probably tru, Yvonne’,s brainswashing would have just worked). She did what she had to, to survive. His actiond, twisted personality and desires are fucked up tho. She did things to survive, Ecklis does it out of madness, I kinda just wish someone would finish him finally. It feels like he will never stop trying to force on her his “love”.
that’s true, Penwlope did play him like a pawn, but like he said right here (and like the manhwa showed multiple times before) he knew he was being used, and he “willingly” (as much willing as you can consider someone under his circumstances) went along with it because it was the most beneficial path for him, much better than being a gladiator like before, or a literal slave that does dangerous work. he benefitted plenty from Penelope, though many people seem to judge her over taking control over him, but in truth SHE saved HIM (from a worse outcome) and not the other way around.

now as for what he did wrong: everything. he let himself become obsessed with someone he knew was using him. he knew the affection she showed him was fake and depended entirely on his obedience to her. he had multiple chances to escaped and begin a new life, but instead he chose to come back again and again to continue to be shackled to someone that only really cared for him when it served a purpose. AND he let himself be manipulated by Yvonne just so he could more easily have access to Penelope, despite knowing full well Yvonne considered Penelope her enemy and will undoubtedly ignore her little promises and kill Penelope as soon as she gets that fucking shard.
