no, the slave (forgot his name) wasn’t brainwashed. The most fucked up thing is that he voluntarily sacrificed everything so penny would look at him.
he knew penny never loved him, so his thought process was ‘ If I can’t have her, no one can’ and ‘you will look at me when I’m the only available choice you have’.
Derrick isn’t much better because although he was brainwashed, he had viewed penny as a woman rather than a sister for quite some time. remember the bird he had in his room (or office)? that represented penny. he wanted to imprison penny and control her completely. just typing this makes me sick to the stomach 🤢
