I’m not entirely sure what Eckles will do in the future (a lot of people who read the novel spoilers seem to hate him) but i can sort of understand his situation.🤔
Penelope is clearly being nice to him only for the sake of bringing his number up to 100%. Even though she does care about him, that small amount of affection is nothing compared to her desire to treat Eckles like a video game character. And sadly for Eckles, he sees through her and KNOWS that he’s being used.
His “love” for Penelope is actually obsession and it’s mostly Penelope’s fault from the way she treated Eckles to show only his worth over and over in every situation
