I would say the father did a pretty good job, it’s hard to keep track of many children without any discrimination. He did what he could have done to make them the best .
Am I only one thinking his father did a great job as being both a father of multi wives and a mornach? Maybe he did not treat him with much affection, but he treated children, even not his owns, fairly. For Iode, he respected his fondness in magic and gave him opportunities to learn, despite his family tradition and his son’s status being the eldest. Same with the first wife, I think she was so brave to give up her competition with the second wife and let her only son pursuit his love in magic. It’s so disappointed that Iode, even without talent, couldnt give effort along with his love and curiosity in magic, instead falling into bad things.
If he didn’t care about his son then he wouldn’t have sent him to worth in the first place. And the only kids got acknowledged because they the talent to back up the hype?. Eugene should’ve let him become a dark mage
