So what? Even 100 years ago, there were people who fought against the oppressor, men, women, and children… that’s why we can enjoy certain freedoms today. Unfortunately, bad people have always existed and always will. This girl continues to suffer without doing anything, always! In fact, it’s people like her who are most easily manipulated by red flags like the Duke; the same thing happens today, these types of “victims” convince themselves they are powerless and continue to suffer both mentally and physically. The problem is not the adversity they face, but their passive reaction.

You are applying modern ideas of resistance to a character who does not have the privilege to resist.
The FL is an orphan with no money, no status, no family backing, and no legal protection. Before living with her uncle, she was moved around like property. Her survival depended on obedience. That behavior was not a choice and it was not weakness. It was conditioning.
When she is finally taken in by her uncle, she does not “do nothing.” She minimizes risk because one mistake can cost her the only person who ever protected her. She believes she has to earn the right to exist in that household. That is not a victim mindset. That is the reality of someone who knows how easily she can be discarded.
Your argument about people fighting oppression in the past is irrelevant here. Those people either had collective power, ideological movements, or nothing left to lose. The FL has none of that. She is isolated, dependent, and living under a rigid class system that punishes people for far less than defying a Duke.
You also ignore how openly this society devalues her. Kyle’s mother looks down on her purely because of her status, and nothing happens to her for it. That alone shows how little protection the FL has. If a noblewoman can treat her with contempt openly, imagine the consequences if she openly challenged someone with real authority.
Saying she “allows” abuse is an oversimplification that erases the power imbalance. Silence is not consent when speaking up carries consequences. You are judging her as if she has modern rights, modern safety, and modern choices. She has none of those.
This is not a story about a girl refusing to act. It is about a girl who understands exactly how dangerous acting too early would be.
I truly pity her that she is a toy to those nobles whether claudine or riette as for matthias he is the most selfish man in this story as he is bloody clueless tho he seems to be improving
For God’s sake, can she speak her thoughts or not? 🙄🙄The pride of a little girl, the ambiguity of her silence, she probably likes to play the victim in her mind, with everyone who attacks her. The duke is a red flag but she is the one who allows him to treat her like this!
You have to remember that she lives in his territory, and her most beloved uncle lives there too. The setting is an older, rigid society where talking back to nobles is not just “speaking your mind,” it can bring real consequences. If she causes trouble, it does not fall on her alone. It can easily fall on her uncle, and protecting him is one of her biggest priorities.
Also, her silence is not her “playing the victim.” It is self-preservation. She does not have the power, status, or safety to say whatever she wants. Saying she “allows” him to treat her like that ignores the power gap between them and the world they live in. You are judging her like she has modern choices, but in her position she really does not.
Not sure how you read this manhwa but she speaks out many times but he didn’t care & just do anything he want. The duke is two-faces so who gonna believe her when he only show that face to her?
