Matthias, who doesn’t understand love, always denies his heart and can’t express his love, and Layla also covers up her love with hatred, but they already love each other. each other just can’t express it in the right way 💚💙
Matthias wants to be something to Layla. Even he has to be the bad guy he wants to mark his existence. Van Ji did amazing showing him grabbing the coins and the flashback of him crushing the rose. It’s like he’s crushing Layla but also hurting himself in the process.
You are the biggest fan of Dark romance I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen you here , Try begging me , Beast within Comment section. But yeah I do get it why. Except for Try begging me I also liked the story of this and Beast within.
i found this on IG and it explain well the situation
✨ A Failed Wish – A Battle Between Pride and Desperation ✨
“I’m… nothing. I always have been, and always will be.”
Layla’s words cut deep—not just for herself, but for Matthias as well. She refuses to define herself in relation to him, rejecting any power he might hold over her. Yet, in doing so, she exposes the weight of her own self-perception: a lifetime of being overlooked, unwanted, and insignificant.
But Matthias refuses to be insignificant to her. If he can’t be a source of joy, he’ll be the cause of her pain.
“If I can give you pain, I’ll give you that too. Then at least you won’t be able to ignore my existence.”
This line is brutal, yet deeply revealing. Matthias is a man consumed by contradictions—his cruelty is not born out of hatred, but out of desperation. He wants Layla to see him, to acknowledge him, even if it means being the reason for her suffering. His actions may be harsh, but beneath them lies a twisted longing.
In the final scene, Layla stands by a fountain, making wishes—each one successfully landing, except for the last.
“Oh, that… That’s a secret.”
A wish that missed its mark. Was it for freedom? For love? For something she knows she will never have? The unanswered question lingers, much like the unresolved tension between them.
This chapter masterfully showcases the fragile balance between pride and yearning, between pushing someone away and desperately wanting them to stay.
Layla, even though she wants Matthias to see her as nothing in his life, it still hurts her and disturbs her feelings. Matthias refuses that and wants to impose himself around Layla no matter what 😢😢 deep down, it affects her. Matthias, on the other hand, refuses to let her fade into insignificance—whether through kindness or cruelty, he forces his presence into her life. It’s such a painful push-and-pull between them.
This comment section is incredibly interesting. Usually, everyone is ‘Team Hate ML” (even the not so bad ones), but I’m feeling more of a. . . relating atmosphere. It’s actually refreshing for a change😊

thats because im a dark romance reader this is a HATE turn into love story so i get it and some people do too and i read the novel AND the author already explained how these characters are lol …but trust me there’s ALWAYS that someone LOL “UGH i HATE MATTHIAS” blah blah blah blah “She should be with kyle” blah blah blah lol the people that are saying that about kyle have no clue what’s going to happen lol the dude is a mamas boy couldn’t even save laila lol or protect laila his love for laila is not strong enough to fight for what he wants
Oh matthias smh smh he saying those things cuz what hes feeling is jealously and doesnt even know it the dude is upset and doesnt know how to make laila smile so he made her cry smh is gonna be complicated until they both realize their true feelings
Matthias probably thought that Leyla would be happy or something after he lifted her to show the crystal birds. But Leyla gave him a reality check for their relationship which hurts him because he just got his feelings hurt by a commoner, a girl whom he is seeking attention to. Then he hurts her back by giving her a reality check.
Kawaiiiki

Uff! 😭 The way they hurt each other to resist their own feelings and to leave a mark of their existence behind. 😭 My heart hurts for them too.
