SPOIL ALERT …………………………….i read the novel and For those of you saying kyle is a better choice YOUR WRONG …you guys have no clue what yall saying …Leila feels forced into this marriage, kyle is not even thinking about her feelings or even asked how she feels about the whole thing the only reason why she accepted this was because of her uncle, kyle is running away from his problems to face the real truth cuz he knows layla doesn’t like him so hes forcing it on her thats why he asked her so many times ..also his mom will NOT accept her AT ALL and will ruin the whole thing and kyle will not fight for her or DEFEND layla he doesn’t even have the heart to protect her ..the dude is a mommas boy what kyle feels for layla isn’t love is actual PUPPY love, what kyle feels is not true love …the reason why matthias is saying he doesn’t like layla is because hes JEALOUS …the dude is inexperience with love he doesn’t know how to win a girl, layla is the first girl he ever wanted and layla is the same shes inexperienced their EGOS is gonna go hardcore with each other but in the end they will learn that their inlove ….Matthias is willing to die for layla and he saved her later on from a war unlike Kyle he couldn’t do anything to save layla life …and one more thing lol matthias is gonna beat kyle up cuz kyle find Matthias and layla having sex lmaooo and kyle went charging in and punched matthais first …im gonn let yall know dont expect this to be Disney prince fairy tale cuz this is dark romnace the MLs are always messed up in the head their anti heros and they ALWAYS get the girl …so matthias is gonna do A LOT of crazy things to get layla by his side THATS why this is Dark romnace and also the author already put an age restriction on this story ..so yall cant complain if you guys dont like it that’s fine is not for everyone but just be WARNED this aint your typical romance …this is a HAte turn into Love story

This novel gives realistic views about how Duke falls in love with commoner Layla when their status is causing their relationship to be forbidden. Unlike other novels nowadays which are making it look easy to marry a man with noble status. They had to go through so much emotional turmoil to be together and had to break social norms.
Layla is afraid to be vulnerable and show her true emotions, that’s why she is using her pride to avoid being hurt in front of Matthias. Both of them are trying to crush each other’s pride to avoid being hurt and to leave a long lasting memory even through pain and tears. THEY really need to communicate openly and properly. They sometimes say things they don’t even mean.
Matthias is being mean to her and hurting her because he wants her to remember the tears and pain he caused her now that she is leaving him. He hates that he can’t resist his feelings for her, he hates that he lost control for the first time in his life, he hates that the so called perfect life he thought he had is starting to see a crack because of his feelings for her. That’s why he’s saying hurtful things he doesn’t even mean.😭
Layla always shows this pride where its unnecessary for example she always rejects goodwill shown by Uncle bill, Kyle and Matthias when they don’t mean any harm. She should show this pride to Claudine instead and talk to her like this. Claudine humiliates her by showing false pity.
