I sincerely do not understand why she has to avoid marrying him. She could go through everything again but avoid the disastrous parts, save lives, etc. and when it comes to her marriage, she just needs to make sure she ruins every plan her parents put into action against the Duke. She could even let her husband know about the plotting. Her job as the only princess of her empire is to either take the throne or marry for the benefit of the empire. So she better be aiming for the crown coz what else can she do?
I mean, I get it but also not really. It’s not like he was a bad husband or anything. He was just a victim of your parents schemes like you.
