She was pregnant. Of course she would do anything to protect her child. When her husband said he didn’t want a child, even if it was on the off chance he was going to harm the child, how could she risk it. Plus he has so much more power than she does. How could she resist him if he wanted to hurt her baby? It’s what a mother’s love is.
