@Peerly1 it’s more of that she has been hurt so much by those meant to love her the most that she’s afraid of accepting this real love out of fear it’ll fade way and she’d be abandoned. The fears and anxieties from her past life are affecting her in her new life. She has only had a year so far in it but those scars don’t fade easily, especially since she suffered for so many years back. No matter one’s age, mistreatment can mess with a person’s head, leading to fears of what if it happens again and so one tends to try block anyone from getting close as a way to protect one’s heart. Imagine getting used and betrayed by friends so many times you lost count and therefore are now anxious over the what ifs since no one can read minds and see a person’s true nature and for anxious people like mabel, this uncertainty can be terrifying, particularly cuz of the what ifs that pop up in one’s head.
So sad seeing a loving father (SSR character for the isekai genre) being hated by the FL when most of the main characters usually are mistreated/abused by their families
