I assume they were gonna at least wait until she was an adult (which in this time, might have meant marrying at 17 or 18, which while still bad, isn’t as bad as… y’know), given that they waited long enough for the dude to die of other causes.
I’m not saying it was at all good, just that, given he was in thirties and she looked probably around 8ish?, by the time she married as a 18 yo to a person in his 40s, to people of those times in historical Europe, it was technically “normal” (as in it actually historically happened not than infrequently between nobility. I’m pretty sure one of the wives of King Henry or some other English King was a similar age gap).
