Because FL knew that the battle depended on her showing up yet she didn’t out of spite and shock for the king’s supposed broken promise. In doing so she probably let tens if not hundreds of soldiers die because they were waiting for her.
Honestly I can understand both sides. As a soldier/hero for the kingdom she should have put her feelings aside and done her end of the bargain. However if it is true that the king broke his promise then she is under no obligation to fight and hold up her end of the promise. Moreover she is a young girl in a very pressuring environment with only that promise to keep her going. But again for the other side of the spectrum I am angry that she would condemn a whole vanguard of soldiers who were counting on her to show up and lead them to victory and instead she leaves them to die over her anger and confusion.
