To me the selection process seems already a bit disgraceful for a future Queen/Empress. Everyone gossiping over the next head of realm in a not super dignified kind of miss contest… 🙂
The Empresses are messed up because the system is a mess and really they should be way worse. Instead of being a dating system to find someone the Emperor wants to create a strong family unit with they are running a job interview. Worse, they are only interviewing for the hard skills and not the soft skills. Strong leadership skills are tested for without seeing if they have empathetic leadership skills. And giving mommy final veto power over her son’s wife is so messed up. There is a reason businesses don’t let the outgoing employee choose their replacement.
