In all honesty.. yeah.. definitely feels rushed. Like I’m fine with ashtarte leaving her family behind since the damage is done and it’d be hard to move past things even if they are being better to her now, she can still care about them dying while still not want anything to do with them after how they treated her when she was a young child just yearning for the love of her family. My issue is more of: the high priest was originally set up to be some big mastermind villain but the moment his plans fell short, he resorted to basic schemes from the antagonist trope book; things weren’t really explained as to why Loena was so devoted to the empress and even knew her. Like how did a Baron’s daughter wind up meeting someone who was in line for high priest? How did they wind up developing a bond to where the empress trusted Loena with ashtarte without a second thought?; why do Olga’s eyes look vacant? Cuz they seem void of light compared to other people’s eyes for whatever reason? How in the hell did horeom wind up meeting and working with Reynold (black magic psycho)? I can see him meeting amaryllis’ mom since she could have come to the temple to pray, but Reynold would probably be someone from the underworld who would only accept deals that excite him. While creating a homunculus could be see as fun to Reynold since he’d be trying out some magic, he seems more interested in fighting than anything. Not only that but they could have made characters such as amaryllis and the royal family to be more fleshed out. Amaryllis was a bitch, yes, but she could have been redeemed, or at least made to be more of a threat than she was (she made maybe 3 schemes against ashtarte? One of them being one of horeom’s), the princes could have been more than just the abused boys who can’t show weakness and could have actually owned up to their shit and apologized bluntly when they first saw ashtarte after she disappeared. Like instead of acting awkward over her tone, they could have said “I don’t expect any forgiveness but I’m sorry for the things I’ve done. Being kind only to verbally smack that in your face, rejecting your affections and your very existence as my sister, turning a blind eye to when others mistreated. I’m sorry for everything. I know this won’t fix the hurt that has already been done, but I swear upon the gods above that I will do better else they can strike me down where I stand”. Also the emperor.. he could have had someone keep watch over ashtarte since he seemed to at least care about prior, seeing as he was willing to send funds to the empress palace, and so his spy guard could have discovered the destitute environment that the palace became so the emperor could be informed and investigate and punish the head maid before going to the palace himself, kneeling before young ashtarte and apologizing for not having noticed the head maid’s actions and how the palace became as a result, the suffering she must have had to endure due to the low funds given by the head maid who likely pocketed the rest, and for neglecting his daughter due to his feelings towards the late empress. And speaking of which, how in the fuck did the high priest ever manage to the ledger to forge it? Like the thing is in the freaking palace for crying out loud!

Wow, if the father and brothers really wanted to atone for how terribly they treated their “Real” sister they would make a formal announcement about Amaryllis and what she really was. But no NOW they want to suddenly forget about the whole prophecy and ignore it because they still love Amaryllis more than Astarte??? so one should be remember as a good person while the other that has suffered for years still gets to live with people doubting her?
