Since there is a theological discussion going on, I might as well add my thoughts. Sorry if it becomes an essay.

First off, do you really know everything in history?

Admittedly, there are dark days in any churches (not just Christianity’s) history, and there were (and still are) wolves in sheeps clothing scattered in those, not to mention even good intentioning idiots who would legit torture ppl so that they would “believe”, but anyone who actually READS THE SCRIPTURES (and this goes for any religion with religious texts) and compares the actions to what they are actually supposed to be will be able to tell if that INDIVIDUAL/INSTITUTION were actually doing what they said they believed in.

Christianity in specific does have its share of dark history, but it also did something radical. Before Christianity, women were just breeding cattle for men’s desires (say what you will about bigoted “Christian” men, but please look around at the culture. even the barest change in their behavior towards women was for a good, and there were educated ones who fully embraced what the Bible taught). Before Christianity, guys could practically do what they wanted and get off scot free. With Christianity, MEN WERE TOLD TO LOVE AND RESPECT THEIR WIVES. Don’t believe me? Look it up. It was CHRISTIANITY who successfully abolished infanticide in the Roman empire (they were taking babies who they didn’t abort or couldn’t afford to, yes there were abortion clinics back then, look it up, and left them on a certain wall in their city for them to die of starvation or beasts) CHRISTIAN TEACHING that lead to the formation of the United States, and even the belief of a freedom for common man that wasn’t dependent on a tyrant’s permission, and CHRISTIAN MORALS that eventually not only villainized racial slavery, but also abolished it.

Sure, Christianity wasn’t perfect. BUT NO ONE PERSON IS, and even the barbarous treatment that they did do was mercy compared to their pagan peers. Not to mention what @Chimmi said does have some truth in it. Assuming Christianity and the Bible are 100% correct, it would make sense on why there are wrong things that happen even in believers, aside from a simple sin nature explanation.

That said, even though there were and still are victims of organized Christianity, one shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater and just ignore everything the Bible said just because the abuser did. If you really don’t like Christianity just bc it seems like someone is shoving it down your throat doesn’t mean it’s not true, and if it isn’t true, shouldn’t you study your enemy a little better and at least acknowledge that they do good as much if not more than they harm?

    Yep. That’s my piece lol

I personally don’t hate HATE Christianity, but sometimes I do question it. Sometimes there are brainwashed-like people that are screaming at you, telling you to believe in God. But that’s just my experience.

Do you know why the evil lurking in Christianity? It is because the Evil hate it when Christianity is trying to save humanity and bring them to God, so the evil is trying to corrupt these people in order to destroy a way for their soul to survive. So knowing this, so yes there’s an evil in Christianity.

Welp, since almost y’all are talking about their experiences with growing up in a Christian family, I’ll might as well share mine too🤷🏻‍♀️
    .
In my experience, my dad is EXTREMELY religious and sometimes I think about it otherwise, because not only does he sometimes look like he’s mocking other people on TV who is in need of help, he also shows a side wherein he gives off homophobic vibes:’)
I just think it’s too much sometimes, but he is willing to do anything for God, which, I really respect, but sometimes it affects other people around him in a possibly…..negative? Way?
    .
But still, these mfs are still too much🐥

    @Adella_
Here’s an opinion from someone who was raised Christian.
The church being evil IS totally in line with the atrocities Christianity has justified in the name of God. The evils that Christians nowadays still perpetuate while claiming the moral high ground because they can twist anything into being in His name.

It’s not the religion or the church that is being portrayed as evil, it’s the pope himself who is. He is using his current position to become more powerful essentially. For example, Isaiah is part of the church too, and he isn’t someone who has committed any evil actions or has any negative intentions. (So far anyways)

The fact you are so inaccurate about your opinions reflect how unrespectful you are about others beliefs

That’s how people see the church in recent years. For decades, they were portrayed as people being of the utmost good and yet have done the most evil things and have done so for years more. Making the church evil is only a reflection of how much evil they have done and used the name of their god to do so.

Oof. The scheming of the church is so gross. Plus, it’s true that having more people around her means more risk of leaking information. Let’s hope the good ones can catch the rats quickly.
