It was fine up to after she returned… Around the time the Prince had an audience with the Emperor. After that, the story fumbled.
There is absolutely no such reason why a redemption for all the characters is necessary. It ruins the entire flow of the series. The family starting to understand their regret was good, it worked towards the flow. But anything else is aggravating.
Why does she need new faces? Instead of creating new character to love her, develop other’s which already exist. Then, you’d create powerful and dynamic people to push the story. Hell, bring back tnat kid in chains in some form or another. Maybe go back to him struggling to find our MC.
Healing the girl’s scars with magic is the line I draw. It’s such an unreasonable and uncharacteristic approach. It ruins the entire story. Who said they needed their scars fixed? Why does our MC need to heal their scars (using magic no less)? It’s such a poor plot point. There were better ways of going through that. Maybe they could have accepted who they were, with having scars on them. It could have then been a turning point in our MC to realize the beauty of herself and others within. To discover that every person is unique. Just a suggestion.
I truly was invested in this series. Shame to see it blunder so early.

From what I remember, it was only the prince, the Sir Ashton, and the princesses at the meeting. That’s why Sir Ashton was sent after the other princess and Ashtarte was left alone. So you’ve got to ask, “who spread the rumour about the darkness trying to consume the light?” She also tried to grab the hairpin off her head, and cried crocodile tears when her brother stopped her “opposed her”. She also smashed some teacups so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Although, I am not a huge fan of, “cartoonishly evil child character who seems to be mean and petty to MC for literally no reason”. I mean – kids can be cruel and rude, but like, they make it out like these children are the antichrist (which Amaryllis may very well be)
Your delusional to believe that Amaryllis has no enmity with her sister. I’m sure she knows she’s the darkness that is unblessed by the light. And having the audacity to be so vindictive at a young age makes it no better. She who has everything wants to take something from the sister that is cursed. She who is loved wants to display her familial affection is front of the one that cannot have it.
Am I remembering incorrectly? As far as I remember, Amaryllis hasn’t done anything harmful to Ashtarte. As far as I remember there was only that one time where she saw a hair piece that Ashtarte was wearing and asked for it. Outside of that, she doesn’t even meet with her sister. If you want to be angry at someone, be angry at her family and the servants who treat Ashtarte’s existence as if it’s nothing. Remember even at the tea party Amaryllis attempted to have Ashtarte join her and the eldest prince but it was the eldest prince who told her to go away. You COULD say she probably was going to be mean but she’s a child. The ones at fault are all the adults. Children emulate their surroundings. Trust me when I say if she was being a b*tch, I would be right there with you. But she really just isn’t. The Emperor and the Eldest Prince were the ones who isolated Ashtarte. I would even go so far as to say the Second Prince did the same but from what little was shown of him, he treated her a bit more kindly.
