i appreciate that this head maid does seem an unwitting actor in all this. it never makes sense to me that maids would commit treason in other stories just because they think they can get away with it. there’s no real purpose to their motivations other than the author needing a disposable villain. but no, she seems peripherally aware of what evil deeds others are doing but is powerless to stop them or speak up about it. finally, a realistic depiction of corruption

So this almighty and power full emperor that purged corrupt nobles to the point their screams were heard from the place abandoned his daughter because of some prophecy? Everyone seems to be more afraid of the high priest than their own Emperor even to the point of several aides warning the Emperor and princes they shouldn’t meet with Ashtarte because the Head priest might hear about it ?
