@BlackRoseTeaDragon because – as she pointed out – it’s not illegal since unmarried women are considered the property of their fathers in this time period. she also noted women are openly abused by their fathers (and probably older male family members), so much so that the count didn’t think twice before doing that in front of the FL. even though she’s against it, the time period she’s in isn’t. she can use her position as empress to change that though
It’s actually insane that she just… let them leave. Why wouldn’t you arrest the count for doing something so dreadful??? After he admitted to tax fraud????? And then knowing she was probably going to get abused even more at home and sold off to an old man whose late wife died suspiciously early????????
