This chap reminded me of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. The way they showed emotions, as something above us, hard to understand but that definitely happens to everyone, everyday.
i think its just showing the depth of the characters desires.. shulis desire to be with her kids and teh kids to her, noras desire for acknowledgment, the princes desire to be loved, the cardinals desriee for stimuli, the churches desire for the kingdom, the empress desres for power.. the peoples desire for the nevushenstein family
