Ah, so compared to real life, this is like when your parents take your holiday money and save it up to chip away at your university tuition. That’s reasonable.
The son is smarted than the mother in making sure they have the resources and knowledge to care for themselves, than have and eat things they might not be able to have once they leave his care.
Those comprehensive plans must’ve taken a long time to plan out. How did she not see him working so hard for the kids? So all that time as a ghost she only stayed by the children and never went to her actual son to see how he was doing?? Neglectful even in death 💀
Now that I see his plans, I agree with him 100% he’s planning their future after they leave his care, making sure they have skills and funds. That’s far more important than dressing and eating like nobles.

What he said is true. Unless they let the children use hand-me-down, buying expensive clothes is a waste. They grow out of it in no time.
