I hope the author doesn’t use this trope but, This is what I’m worried about. Sig is trying to secure her love and then disappear for a few years without telling her what he’s doing (like she won’t worry) in the hopes the he can swoop back in on a white horse to sweep her off her feet back to his castle. He thinks if she loves him he can keep her alone while he’s gone without even knowing if he’ll be back, so stupid, I hate this selfish trope and I’m crossing my fingers that it won’t be used
