Still a violation of trust. I mean, imaging going to a party with your male friend, and he offers to drive you home. You get in his car, only for him to actually take you to his house. Like, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve known someone. Being alone with them and no one knows where you went. You have no ability to leave because he’s the one who brought you there. You’re tipsy or tired, or any number of things having just left a party. Yuck.
MAYBE he knows her well enough to know she’s down for whatever afterparty he has planned, ooor maybe he’s taking liberties with her because of what he wants. The amount of stories I’ve heard about a person thought of as a friend cornering the other and trying to come onto them… His saving grace is that he’s the ML and therefore, anything creepy he does is actually romantic.

Also, they aren’t that close. yeah, they’ve known each other for years, but didn’t they imply earlier that he pulled away from her when the emperor pointed out his crush? Actually, didn’t he move out of the palace?
