In some cultures like mine, people visit the funeral home for days and the relatives serve food to the visitors. Generally food is cooked by someone else as a favour to the relatives of the deceased. We also bring fruit juice, a package of tea, sugar etc when we visit the funeral home to be served later to the other guests. It’s an act of kindness. Geneally in eastern cultures.
