This story could use some work and it has nothing to do with the translation. The flow of the story is messy and the world lacks depth. It’s not a product of the mc being a child, this reads like an assay I dictated into google docs last minute and couldn’t proofread before class…..

The story starts off slow, you see her point of view then his side of the same events. The translation gets better when we see his side of the story. It drags a little but after his side the art improves and the story progresses. There is a time skip after age 8 so the plot can get going. If you don’t want to read the same parts twice I recommend skipping ahead to Kier’s POV since it sums up the events along with giving insight into what he was thinking.
Regarding the confusing character personalities:

ML is kind of a brat and misunderstands the slap as “affection”. He thinks he’s helping FL but his lack of manners make him come across to her as a bossy kid and a nag.
Father seems cold at first but he’s really just unsure how to deal with a daughter who acts like a tiny adult. When she starts acting like a kid he warms up to her. That’s why the personality 180.
FL isn’t aware the ML equates slaps to affection and mistakes him as a masochist. She initially dislikes him because he’s a bossy kid and feels he’s forcing her to do things like eat too much.
