Review:
Do you like power fantasies? But not the power fantasies where the protagonist has tough but fulfilling fights against competent opponents, but instead stomps all over morons who should by all rights have choked on their own bile decades ago through their own stupidity? Keep reading!
Do you like antiheros? No, more than that – do you like Chinese/mythological Greek style protagonists? The kind that lie, cheat, betray, blackmail, bribe, and murder without a second thought – that would be called a black hearted villain in other works but only are the protagonist here because the reader is following their story?
Do you like seeing one dude revolutionise a magically advanced civilisation with basic fourth grade historical inventions like oil explosions, flintlock rifles and double sided ledgers and using them to defeat aura knights capable of slashing through walls, mages that can upend mountains and country-wide spanning commercial guild leaders?
Like literally, some mages throwing building sized fireballs around getting oneshotted by guys with flintlocks. In a setting where crossbows presumably exist.
And the mage’s genius level test is a fourth grade block puzzle. No, this literally happens in chapter 59.
Do you like flat art, pretty mediocre quickly drawn work that gives a reasonable understanding of what is going on, but no real artistic joy or beauty to see?
If any or all of the above tickles your fancy, “I Build an Industrial Empire on the Magic Continent” may bring tepid delight to your eyes and joy to your brain!
Otherwise, it’s really pretty mid to poor in quality, and I’d advise hitting up some other serialisations with your time.
