This story is for the most part an excellent example of how really bad discommunication between couples can get.
But it’s also an example of an actually destructive (and self-destructive) emo male lead who still gets away with every toxic act, while the story diverts the attention of readers towards the inner struggles of the female lead.
It’s annoying to see how readers accuse the female lead of being too quiet or passive, even though she DOES try to talk things out with the male lead, while HE pushes her away again and again.
Sure, the female lead could just stay at university and never return to the manipulative family who raised her and paid for her education and so on; but how can you claim she’s “stupid” by holding up her end of this whole deal plus wanting to take care of a sick person who’s even worse off?
As in most manhwas, the male lead is the one who is unable to speak honestly – and heck, he’s also totally unwilling to talk to anybody in general, plus he’s rather rude even towards his superiors.
However, on top of that THIS male lead here is also super selfish and full of self-pity. Even though he is not powerless at all as the heir of a dukedom, for years he has never even tried to stand up to his grandfather, the current duke and head of the house who has a cruel grudge against his sickly daughter-in-law (mother of the male lead).
The female lead on the other hand was basically trained/conditioned to keep quiet for all of her life, she was raised to become the “ideal” wife for the male lead, and to just follow orders of the horrible grandfather. She’s also monitored all the time. But she STILL manages to take care of the male lead’s sick mother.
While the male lead himself does nothing to keep his mother safe, except for complaining and guilt-tripping himself over and over in his head, and for a long time he rather chooses to believe the lies of his dubious childhood friend (the villainess in this manhwa) who told him that she takes care of his mother, which she never did.
From the very beginning you can see how super selfish the male lead is, like how he is unwilling to answer a simple question but instead decides to suddenly accuse the female lead of hating him or wanting to cheat on him (they’re betrothed), turning the conversation around so that it’s all about him, he’s the victim all of a sudden and the other is a bad person in his opinion.
This guy is a walking red flag and the way he’s talking should be a warning to every girl and woman: this is exactly how a toxic partner talks and acts like. If you ever meet someone who’s only remotely like this: run away!
A person who is never interested in your pain and worries is bad enough, but a partner who even turns this around against you and always makes you feel even worse, is a serious threat to your mental and even physical health.

It is very suffecating that fl is always overthinking like half of the chapters are filled with the most negative outcomes for her. The ml doesn’t seem like he can’t handle his feelings since he treats the fl rlly bad. This negative outcomes are most likely due to them not having a communicating sessions they barely look talk with eachother. How could anyone be so loyal it’s just too impossible that you can be viewed as a dog rather than human.

The story is very slow and the main lead and FL main problem is that they cannot communicate properly which lead to the misunderstanding between them

Honestly, I hate this. Ok, maybe not hate, but this is boring af and both FL and ML are literal doormats. I legit felt my eyes closing while reading, I gave up on chapter 6, read ahead to see if story got better, they still had the same boring dialogues. I can’t, I’m out 🫡

I really dislike the ML, his inability to communicate properly and to protect the FL as he should, his cold and aloof demeanor, he doesn’t even check up on his mother’s well-being at all. Talk about a frustrating ML.
