   @xnaysilvousplait she isn’t being bitch in anyway lmaoooo being a bit mannerless with those strict etiquettes they put doesn’t make someone bitch & the thing is that body she is in is so gorgeous that it draws men in easily especially the other leads so she tried to at least conceal it, knowing what happened to og & how they got into her this seemed the best way make them repulse her, so that CP won’t pay her mind like obsessive creep & get with someone else it may seem abhorrent to you but her solution is a good one considering how judgement society & men are either way even if she were to avoid leads she would’ve gotten sold to some old noble, making herself ugly is a win win that way no one want to take her in & she can escape unwanted marriage & emperor won’t allow CP to be with some ugly lady…… but if anything it’s she can’t stay with her family forever but she got ML by then…………. when the storm passed

   @Justwithme yes her reason for being ugly is not limited to skin tone, but also freckles + weird eye color combo make up + her putting cotton in clothes to make her look out of figure + weird dressing sense + weird hairstyle
   and about men targeting young white girls……….. it happens even now, didn’t changed with time……… also korea have some crazy beauty standards as well……….

   I think the reason for her being ugly isn’t dark skin , it’s tacky makeup and fashion or something more to it, maybe that isn’t very culturally acceptable among the noble in this story like how Korean are very opinionated about Harajuku fashion or showing cleavage but they’re fine with showing legs because they don’t like to stand out too much so they keep up with the trend, I think they should’ve more focused on that part and explained what exactly is ugly according to them or its just prudijudice against tan skin then I really don’t think she did anything wrong because this is exactly what this society considers and this is their definition of ugly, what if a muscular women is also what they consider to be ugly, so basically it’s pure misogyny , look how men in this story are acting, they’re repulsed and even there’s so many hints that men target young white skin powerless women, the ML also says in one chapter that “this disgusting empire won’t even let women be themselves” so let me ask y’all whats wrong if she used makeup to make her look dark? She is basically using misogyny to her benefit , she is smart y’all are the one who are the fools, honestly if men and pickmeishas in a society considers mom jeans and baggy t-shirt disgusting then I will 200% wear it peacefully knowing that this will repulse the pervert and entitled men , do I consider baggy t-shirt and mom jeans disgusting??? No I think it’s fucking cool and keep the bastards away from me.

   I hate how you readers jump to conclusion and always only blame the FL , she’s the victim here , she’s desperately looking for a safe shelter much better than those pickmeishas FL who always want to fix that and this and forgets about her own mental health, I absolutely that stupid shit , this is exactly why I love Penelope and eris , they care about themselves and just trying to survive not about fixing the men in the story, it’s not women’s job , men should figure out their psychological problems themselves I seriously idgaf .

   It’s bearable to justify blackface? Nah, I feel like the story doesn’t even make sense. She’s pretending to be ugly so blackface is her solution? And pretending to be a btch with no manners too. She even drew some “acne” to pretend to be ugly. How is that any better? She has a magical pouch and she’s a really good makeup artist and she uses that to do blackface and draw some acne marks. Don’t bother with this story. It’s abhorrent.

   If you just imagine that the female lead really uses make-up-artist skills with her magical pouch to make herself look actually ugly (like disfigured), the story becomes bearable. The chapters where the heroine bonds with her contract husband and his young nephew are really sweet.
   Unfortunately, the story itself has weird parts too. Like a horrible wedding-training-“law” that is mentioned very early on, but nobody ever actually does this throughout the manhwa … so what’s the point to even invent such a stupid thing?
   Also the evil three original male leads that the fl need to escape from aren’t even mentioned much. Instead, some wolf god is suddenly thrown into the story later on, who claims that the soul of the female lead was the one he loved madly in a past life, which of course was never even hinted at whenever we learnt about the “original story”, and the one god we ever saw up to that point (who gave the pouch to the fl) looked like a modern-dressed guy…

   We’re supposed to think her secret is that she’s beautiful and light skinned and she’s just pretending to be ugly by darkening her skin and acting like she has a terrible attitude when in fact, the issue is her darkening her skin to appear ugly. Pretty racist
